The most important reasons to spay or neuter dogs, puppies, cats or kittens is to reduce pet overpopulation, pet suffering, and save lives. Even the best intentioned pet owners will make mistakes and their dog or cat will “accidentally get pregnant.” Those accidental litters add up to thousands to millions of unwanted puppies and kittens.

Dogs, puppies, cats and kittens are given away indiscriminately and may be abused, used for bait or thrown out only to have more litters.

When puppies or kittens are born outside, they can die of exposure, starvation or are killed by other animals or people

Dogs, puppies, cats and kittens are euthanized due to being abandoned or surrendered

Kittens become strays or are feral where they are hit by cars, get into fights and suffer from untreated wounds and likely will die.

ABOUT
Fixing Furry Friends

Fixing Furry Friends was the vision of Cindy Hopkins and Diane Brindle. They created “Our Wish”  in 2001, which eventually became Fixing Furry Friends. These 2 women wanted to help with the overpopulation of dogs and cats in our community. Fixing Furry Friends exists specifically to help ensure that no dog or cat mates so unwanted puppies or kittens will be born. This allows for dogs and cats to find homes that would have been filled by puppies and kittens. We serve Mason County, MI. As funding allows we serve Lake, Manistee, and Oceana Counties.

Fixing Furry Friends does not accept, adopt, foster, rehome or rescue any canines or felines. You can find places that may be able to help with those on our resource page. You can find veterinarians that accept out certificates on our resource page.
